The Hooker Electric fishing reel that you see today is the product that emerged from a history of revisions founded by Thomas Sandstrom. When I completed the first “home-made” prototype, the results amazed me. The reel creation also impressed my friends and fellow anglers. I never expected the performance that it provided once we ran a series of tests. The Hooker Electric proved to be lighter, more compact but also faster than the competitors. This meant that an angler could retrieve the bait from the bottom, setup and send that bait back to the bottom quicker. The Hooker Electric truly performs as proficiently as it looks. It all started when my friend Charlie kept borrowing my electric reels and returning them in disrepair. I was confident that I could make a better electric reel and this assurance inspired me to develop my own. Therefore I began to design, engineer and develop what was to later become the “Hooker Electric”. It all happened in a small shed at home with no air conditioning and a conventional small lathe and mill. Three variants emerged from that effort while continuously improving on design and its components to improve on performance. It didn’t happen overnight, but it certainly was engaging and fun! We continue to receive valued feedback from fellow anglers and respected charter captains. Over time, we continued to modify and developing the reel to accommodate all the requirements and demands presented from the  fishing industry.
