Hooker Electric’s heavy-duty flush mount swivel fishing boat rod holders are 1/4″ thick 4″ x 5″ top plate. Hooker Electric’s custom flush mount rod holders feature a wide low-profile cap for excellent mounting strength and to enhance the appearance of any boat. 100% welded cap to tube joint, an assembly assured to never break! Many heavy-duty rod holders are of a fixed design. They are installed in holes provided by the boat’s designer or they are screwed onto a vertical surface.

These Flush Mount Rod Holders are primarily designed to be used with bent butt tackle. The rod holder’s unique swivel base allows the rod butt to rotate in the rod holder when side pressure is applied to the tip of the rod. The rod is more easily removed from the holder since it is not locked on a rigid pin. The swivel base holder functions as a standard rod holder when used with straight butt rods. Straight butt rods can be manually rotated so that the line remains on the tip’s roller. The amount of torque required to rotate the swivel is set by adjusting the pressure on two Delrin® drag washers with a ½” stainless steel lock nut at the bottom of the rod holder. White vinyl liner protects rods and is keyed with the gimbal bar to eliminate liner twists.

Rod Holder Technical Details

Our Premium Rod Holders accommodate #2, #4, and #6-rod butts in gunnels up to 1-3/4″ thick. 11″ deep with 2.125″ diameter rod tubes. Includes 1/8″ thick 316 annealed stainless steel backing plate and safety line clip that can be positioned from any mounting bolt. Unique to the industry, both the 0 & 15-degree models include a removable pin at 9″ deep on the tube, inserted before installation. The rod holder includes a leash connector to tether the reel to the rod holder to protect against accidental loss. The purchase does not include stainless bolts, lock nuts, and Delrin® washers for a maximum strength installation.

Rod Holder Engraving Options

Each plate can include optional CAD control CDC engraving, text, logo, or both. A stroke-based AI, EPS, CDR, SVG, DXF, and PDF vector format is required. Bitmap graphics cannot be used in a native format.  There is a one-time setup charge of $200, however, any reorders will not incur this fee. Adding a set of rod holders can help you to catch more fish. Adding a set of rod holders is the best way to keep your rod out of the way, but within easy reach when steering your boat or when baiting a hook. Also, a set of rod holders will also keep your rods off the deck, organized, and ready for use. If you happen to fish alone, a set of rod holders will also enable you to fish with more than one rod, which means more lines in the water and more fish caught.

Rod Holder Hardware Installation Kit

The installation kit does not come with each rod holder. The kit must be bought together with each rod holder purchased and each kit contains four of the following hardware:

• Corrosion Resistant 316 SS Hex Nut 5/16″- 18 thread size
• Heavy-duty 316 SS Phillips, flat head screw 5/16″-18 thread, 2.5 length
• 316 SS split lock washer, 5/16″ screw, 0.322″ ID, 0.583 OD
• 316 SS washer for 5/16″ screw, 0.344″ ID, 0.75″ OD

While nylon and fiberglass rod holders do not corrode they are not as sturdy as treated metals. We recommend stainless steel or chrome-plated brass rod holders for fishing in rough waters because they are rigid enough to withstand rod motion when running or trolling in a seaway.  Hooker Electric Rod Holders are made of 316 annealed stainless steel containing 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum. The “moly” is added to help resist corrosion to chlorides like seawater. It is extremely durable, resists corrosion, and stands up to many chemicals, ideal for sea-bearing boats.
